The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. STORY TIME.
So… a couple friends and I took a summer class up at Seahurst Beach which is right next to Puget Sound. Therefore, there’s A LOT of sea life next to us. You name it: starfish, seals, crabs, moon snails .. etc. We were taking a Marine Technology class and each group (me and my friends) got to have a fish tank and every time we saw something we could put it in there. One day my friend Anna, and I were in the waters in our HUGE black boots that went up to our thighs and we were just singing one of Mariah Carey’s songs at the top of our lungs and throwing seaweed at each other and then BAM we see something floating in the water. IT WAS A LION’S MANE JELLYFISH.
We scooped it up with a bucket and HENCE, it was heavy since it was full of water… and Anna and I lugged it back to the science center. Our teacher was like “Oh.. we can’t have jelly fish in our tanks because it’s square. It needs it’s own special tank without edges so it doesn’t rip. Go put it back.” He tells us how it’s the biggest species of jellyfish in the world and how it has the nastiest sting if you touch it. So we brought it back and let it go. :’(
We thought we were so coooool. Hahaha. I’ll tell you guys more stories! That was the funniest summer ever. Oh, the memories.

A mother (97 years old) in China, feeding and taking care of her paralysed son (60 years old) everyday for more than 19 years. A reminder of the amazing spirit of human compassion and more importantly, motherly love.
